Sonoma Valley Guide – Things to Do in the Sonoma Valley

Sonoma Valley Guide

If you’re planning to visit Sonoma Valley, there are several things to do in this beautiful area. Sonoma Valley is located in Sonoma County and is accessible by several major highways. Highway 121 is the first introduction to the Sonoma Valley from the south, and Highway 12 is the primary route through the area. From San Francisco, Highway 101 can be reached by going over the Golden Gate Bridge. In addition, Highway 29 and Highway 12 are located in the area.

While in the area, consider visiting quaint towns. You can browse boutiques and wine shops. You can even purchase wine supplies at Williams Sonoma, the town’s original Williams Sonoma. While most people have heard of Williams Sonoma, most have no idea where it got its name from. While you’re in town, you should also stop by General Vallejo’s house. The house is open for tours, and you can learn about the town’s history.

The Sonoma Valley is home to many innovative producers of wine. Some of these producers specialize in Old World varieties, including Italian and Spanish varietals. You can also find many fantastic Bordeaux blends. One popular casual eatery in the Sonoma area is Picazo Cafe and Deli. You can also find fantastic restaurants in Petaluma.

The Sonoma Valley is famous for its wines. Many wineries offer non-alcoholic varieties, as well. However, most wineries charge for tastings. However, they waive the tasting fee if you buy a bottle of wine. In addition, you can purchase a tasting pass from the Sonoma Valley tourism office. Alternatively, you can use your Visa Signature credit card to receive free tastings at select wineries.
